#YIRNE: Children running after a convoy of government officials begging for money to be thrown at them
Recently at an IDP camp in Maiduguri, a group of children we're seen running after a convoy of government chanting "Yirne, Yirne", meaning spray it, spray it, in Kanuri.
That was the slogan that was popularised by former governors of Borno state during election campaigns as well as on regular days when their vehicles ply the streets of Maiduguri.
The governors would pull out a bunch of cash and spray it into the air for their supporters and those lined up to hail them.
As dangerous as it seems, many persons, including adults and kids, do enjoy the act of Yirne.
Many had been injured, trampled upon and bruised during the deadly struggle to catch the Naira notes.
Sadly, Yirne has become a norm for everyone, including kids in IDP camp.
